Facing the keen competition from vegetables imported from China, the AFCD encourages local farmer adopting modern cultivation method to plant new variety and higher value vegetables, so as to enhance the competitive edge of locally grown crops. And in order to cope with the development of sustainable local agriculture, improve farmer livelihood and accomodate public's increasing demand of high quality vegetables, VMO established a Premium Vegetable Section (PVS) in 1992, with an aim to assist local farmers to build up a network to sell their produce to upper class customers like hotels, restaurants, elderly homes, supermarkets and lunch box supplier, etc. Vegetables supplied by PVS must pass our stringent pesticide residue testing before being processed according to customers' specifications. Every day, we deliver fresh, safe and high quality vegetables by refrigerated vehicles to our customers.
PVS also shoulder the responsibility to promote accredited vegetables and organic vegetables to public. At present, public is able to purchase our products from 181 accredited retailers and 25 organic vegetables retail outlets, including supermarkets, the MTR shops, health food shops and vegetable stalls in wet markets.
